Though it weighs less than two pounds, it sounds as heavy as a hundred foot-tall leviathan emerging from the deep. The single ECC83 (British for 12AX7) tube in the preamp section gives the signal an organic quality, and the solid-state power section gives it the muscle to compete with much larger amps. As its menacing appearance suggests, the Micro Dark excels at punk, post-hardcore, hard rock, and all varieties of metal: sludge, thrash, doom, death, prog, black, and everything in-between. But, it's not a one-trick pony! It can give you beautiful full-bodied, jangly clean sounds, rootsy crunch, and classic rock punch at lower-gain settings. Most importantly, the Micro Dark responds just like a big amp, so you always feel the eldritch power of rock and roll.

Dialing in tones with the Micro Dark is literally as easy as one, two, three; after all, there are only three knobs! Volume and gain determine your loudness and level of distortion, and the Shape button in the middle changes the midrange response. If you set it clockwise, you get the classic scooped "heavy metal smiley face" EQ with crushing bass and searing highs. If you set it in the counter-clockwise, it has more of a classic punchy midrange-forward sound. At noon, it sounds robust and balanced. And, if you want to summon the thunder through headphones, it has a headphone output with loaded with a cabsim of a mic'd up Orange 4x12 so you can get organic tone in your ears. You can also use this output to run direct to the board for recording purposes.
