Used 2019 Fender Custom Wildwood 10 1962 Telecaster Custom – Journeyman Relic
A Match Made in Heaven
Fender didn't make Telecaster Customs with P-90s in the neck position back in 1962, but this "what-if" Wildwood 10 is proof that they should have! First things first: its HLE gold finish is a beautiful complment to the darker hues of the roasted body and neck, and the 1-play white pickguard is the perfect cherry on top of the aesthetic sundae.
The aforementioned roasted woods (look at the flame on that neck) help give this guitar a bit of vintage sonic flavor, and it definitely has that classic woody Tele sound we all know and love.
However, the pickups do a lot of heavy lifting in that regard, too. The hand-wound Twisted Tele in the bridge has all the vintage Fender twang, sparkle, bite, and chime you'll ever need. In the neck position, the Seymour Duncan Antiquity P-90 provides a perfect counterpoint. With its broad, rich midrange, bell-like highs, and smooth lows, it's clear enough for big strumming parts but fat enough for creamy lead tones.
Add in a '54 U neck profile (if you like 'em a little chunky, you'll love this guitar's feel) with a 10" radius and narrow-tall frets, and you get a guitar that feels and plays like a beautiful hybrid of modern Fender brilliance and golden-era glory. We're proud to showcase such inspiring instruments, and we know they will bring some lucky Fender fanatic a lifetime of musical joy.
The Perfect 10
Years ago, we approached our friends at the Fender Custom Shop with a proposal: would they build us guitars that combined the mojo of a true-to-vintage reissue with modern handfeel and comfy modern ergonomics? They were enthused about the idea, and the Wildwood 10 was born. Thanks to the Custom Shop’s incredible craftsmanship and artistry, these guitars look gorgeous, sound killer, and play like butter.
Each of these Custom Shop creations features a thin fifties-style nitrocellulose finish, which allows the voice of the resonant hand-selected tonewoods to shine through. They also have hand-wound Custom Shop pickups that are sure to inspire you to reach new heights on your sonic journey. Wildwood 10s feel great in your hands, too. Their modern 10” radius is suitable for a wide variety of styles and techniques, and their 6105 narrow-tall frets allow you to expend less energy with your left hand, especially when bending strings. To top it all off, they come with a limited edition Dealer Select Wildwood 10 hardshell case and a certificate of authenticity.
Condition Report
This monster Wildwood 10 Tele is in minty-fresh shape as it shows faint signs of normal use with no cosmetic flaws to report. It comes with its original hardshell case, a certificate of authenticity, its floor traveler, a Custom Shop strap, and its hang tags.
