Gibson Custom Shop Greatest Hits Collection 1964 SG Standard – VOS, Maestro Vibrola
Sonic Evaluation
This silver foxy lady's story is a tale of contrasts with serious Jeykll and Hyde vibes. Overall, it has warm, woody, punchy vintage-style sound. The bridge pickup is definitely Mr. Hyde, as it's is meaner and snarlier than a junkyard dawg eyeing a porterhouse. The midrange is downright rude, with spectacular bite and crunch and plenty of sparkle. By contrast, the neck pickup is caramel-sweet, with broad, sonorous midrange along with deep clear lows and a gorgeous singing top-end. Both pickups exhibit outstanding clarity and articulation, too. The fact that it has one of the coolest finishes of all time is just the cherry on top!
