Fender Left-Handed American Vintage II 1951 Telecaster
The Beauty of the Blackguard
Wildwoodians, we don't think we're overstepping when we say that the Telecaster is one of the most perfect instruments...nay, one of the most perfect things ever created. Basically, the Telecaster has existed in the same basic form since Leo Fender first introduced it in 1951. How many other man-made machines have captured imaginations and inspired greatness for that long in their original form? Some might make an argument for, like, the internal combustion engine or something, but you can't play sick solos on a carburetor so that argument is invalid.
Anyhoo, Fender has rightfully included the 1951 Telecaster in their American Vintage II lineup, and they've done a masterful job of capturing the glory of the original. The Pure Vintage '51 Tele single-coils give you everything you need to get through a gig: bright twang, jangle, bite, and chime in the bridge position to go with woody, vocal warmth in the neck position and a beautiful blend in the middle. It also sports an ash body with a nitrocellulose lacquer finish that allows the wood to breathe and resonate like a real vintage fender.
And, it feels awesome, too! The '51 U neck profile is wonderfully chunky, and its 7.25" radius allows for easy chording up and down the neck while the vintage tall frets help you bend strings easily. All in all, the neck on this bad boy provides a super-fun vintage playing experience.
And the vintage vibe also abounds in the various period-correct aesthetic appointments, too! It has a three-saddle brass bridge (which also maximizes sustain), narrow face dot spacing at the twelfth fret, single-line Fender Deluxe tuners, and (of course0 that iconic black pickguard.
Wildwoodians, we invite you to take the American Vintage II 1951 Telecaster for a spin and experience the beauty of the blackguard. We have no doubt it will take you on all sorts of musical adventures!
