From Mock-Up to Masterbuilt
One day at the shop after we received a couple of paisley Stratocasters, the Wildwood team started talking about how cool it would be if Gretsch did a similar finish for one of their Duo Jets. Our webmaster Phil did a mock-up of the design idea, and we sent it off to Gretsch to see what they thought. We didn't really expect anything to come of it, but they loved it and decided to make us this incredible instrument. This proves two things: the people at Gretsch are amazing for making our fantasy a reality, and Wildwood is the coolest place in the world to work! It is our distinct honor to present our exceptional customers with one of the coolest guitars ever to come through our door!
Tonal Evaluation
This pink paisley powerhouse is an incredibly inspiring guitar! Within sixty seconds of picking it up, I had already written a cool new riff, and anything that gets your creative juices flowing that quickly is a powerful tool, indeed. This serial has lots of woody, round bottom end and a good deal of lush high-end resonance. The neck pickup really emphasizes the low-end, but the dryness of the bass response keeps things from getting muddy. There's also some gnarly upper-midrange snarl, too! In the bridge position, the low-end tightens up considerably and the high-end gets extra glossy. The master builders at Gretsch have imbued this serial with incredible touch-sensitivity, too, so it really responds to your right-hand dynamics. Anyone seeking a one-of-a-kind sound and a one-of-a-kind finish should jump on this phenomenal Duo Jet!
