Sonic Evaluation

One of the best things about working at Wildwood Guitars is that the instruments in our inventory are so special that they frequently spark new musical ideas when you pick them up, and I couldn't turn the creative faucet off when I sat down with this world-beating Kevin Ryan Mission Grand Concert. It sounds sweeter than than a batch of Kool-Aid made with double the sugar (the only way), and it's even more likely to make you vibrate with excitement. Metaphors aside, in practical terms "sweetness" means that guitar has pleasant-sounding overtones that aren't harsh or tubby in all the right places, all the way up and down the neck. If that's the case, this Kevin Ryan Mission has a medically dangerous amount of sugar to lend you!

You know those people who are insanely good at balancing stacks of rocks in ways that look impossible? This guitar has the balance of an ten foot-tall rock tower! It has has supreme note separation, articulation, and clarity, too. Though this serial is as consistent and even as can be, it still leaves plenty of room for dynamic expression. The low end is powerful, the midrange is sunny, and the highs are resplendent in crystalline overtones.

For fingerstyle players, the Mission Grand Concert is a holy grail, but it also works magnificently for single-note flatpicked leads and well-mannered strumming as long as you're not looking for a bluegrass banjo-killin' cannon to whale on. While it rewards a lighter touch, it still has plenty of room-filling volume on tap.

I have no doubt this incredible Kevin Ryan Mission Grand Concert will inspire a river of creative ideas in you just as it did me.

Condition Report

Kevin Ryan makes some of the finest acoustic guitars on the planet, and this Mission Grand Concert puts the beautiful tone of Brazilian rosewood front and center. In a word, it's magical! Its playability and gorgeous tone will take you on all sorts of inspiring acoustic adventures.

It's also in remarkable shape! There is some moderate fretwear (to be expected on a guitar that's this hard to put down), and there are some very light scratches and tiny dings sprinkled throughout the finish, but nothing particularly noticeable. It comes with its original hardshell case, too!
