Froggy Bottom Guitars K Deluxe Mahogany
Sonic Evaluation
If I could get away with supergluing this Froggy Bottom K Deluxe Mahogany to my hands, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Sure, it would present interesting logistical challenges in my day-to-day life, but that's a small price to pay to have a guitar this amazing with me always. I often characterize guitars that can do everything as "Wooden All-terrain Vehicles," and this one is like an ATV with a supercharged V12. It's an absolute beast when played with a pick or fingerstyle, it sounds ludicrously good at soft or maximum volume, and it has outstanding richness without sacrificing clarity or balance. The lows are deep and cavernous, but with a woody, vintage-style flavor. The midrange is broad and warm, and it's practically dripping with sweet overtones. Ditto for the highs, which have a delightful sunny quality, plenty of sparkle, and lots of mass.
This serial's balance between fundamental tones and overtones is also spot-on, and though it sounds lush, open, and three-dimensional, it's never too much--square in the Goldilocks Zone! It has a round, springy attack that responds at Usain Bolt levels of speed to your attack, and it has a wide dynamic range, which makes for a sublimely expressive, inspiring playing experience.
A guitar this dynamic and this versatile doesn't come around every day, and after you take it for a spin, I have no doubt that you'll understand my desire to glue it to my flesh so it's always by my side.
