Rock and Roll Incarnate

Wildwoodians, few guitars are cooler than a three-pickup Les Paul Custom; in fact, until recently, we determined that it was mathematically impossible to get any radder than that. Then, this amazing highly-limited 2008 Custom Shop Jimmy Page Signature Les Paul Custom came in, and we realized our calculations were incorrect, because Jimmy Page always makes everything better. Stunning appearance aside, it's also quite a rare bird, as Gibson only made 500 of these bad boys in 2008.

This serial, #196, is a marvelous example of the Les Paul Custom's titanic sonic power. The Jimmy Page Signature Les Paul Custom's resonant mahogany body gives it outstanding warmth and fullness, and the Jimmy Page custom humbuckers paint a meticulously accurate portrait of classic PAF tone. However, it's the switching that's the real star of the show. It has a six-way selector and a coil-tap for the bridge, allowing you to get somewhere between eleventy thousand and a bazillion cool tones. The bridge pickup is pure snarling rock glory in humbucker mode and spanky and jangly in single-coil mode. Speaking of which, it becomes almost Telecaster-like when you switch to the bridge plus middle position with the coil-tap engaged. The neck pickup is like dark chocolate for your ears, and the in-between positions have a vocal quack that you'll likely find very addictive.

It's one of those special guitars that takes you somewhere else when you plug it in and crank your amp--it makes it easy to get lost, and the electronics are versatile enough to follow you wherever you go. So, while this guitar is highly collectible, it will also be a great friend to you in all your music-making endeavors and inspire your musical creativity!

About the Controls

This Jimmy Page Les Paul Custom features an innovative six-position toggle that lets you isolate the neck and bridge pickups or add the middle in any combination. In the normal position, the toggle operates like a standard 2 pickup Les Paul toggle: selecting Neck pickup, Neck and Bridge pickup, or Bridge pickup. Push it to the unique forward position, and now you can choose between Neck & Middle, Neck & Middle & Bridge, or Bridge & Middle. A push-pull treble tone knob splits the rear pickup for the traditional Jimmy Page single-coil option.

Condition Report

This Jimmy Page LP Custom is in gorgeous condition! It shows some extremely light fretwear and faint signs of playwear from normal use. There are a few small nicks and dings (mostly on the back), but they're not particularly noticeable. There is also some checking and/or chipping along the neck binding, but our techs went over the neck and said it was rock-solid and stable structurally. Other than that, there are no cosmetic flaws to note! To top it off, it comes with its original hardshell case, paperwork, hangtags, strap, cable, and Jimmy Page certificate of authenticity.
