Sonic Evaluation

If mahogany and Adirondack spruce go together like peanut butter and jelly, then this Froggy Bottom is a PB&J from a three-Michelin star restaurant! It has a classic, iconic tone: warm, woody, and punchy, with surprisingly deep low end and sweet, golden-hued trebles. It's perfectly balanced, too, with juuuuust the right blend of fundamental and harmonic overtones. That balance allows for marvelous string separation and clarity without losing any warmth or punch. The attack is springy and round, and it responds to your touch immediately, so much so that if a baby breathed into the soundhole the strings would ring at a solid mezzo forte. It also has this marvelous sense of natural reverberance and three-dimensionality that lends it a more lushness than a typical guitar of this wood construction (perhaps because of the 12-fret neck).

Obviously, a 12-fret small-bodied Froggy Bottom is a fingerstyle terror capable of pillaging villages, burning cities, and crushing open mics. It's blend of balance, fullness and responsiveness allow it to climb into the top tier of that field. But, it's also truly wondrous how fun it is to sit and strum with a flatpick. It's no banjo killer, but it has plenty of headroom and it has a lovely blend of punch and sparkle when you strum. Whatever your musical proclivities may be, I think you'll find this serial to be an utterly delicious morsel of acoustic awesomeness!
