Sonic Evaluation

For a Skynyrd fan like me, playing this Tom Murphy-aged Gary Rossington Les Paul is a magical experience. The illustrious Mr. Murphy's meticulous aging work really makes you feel like you've plugged in Gary Rossington's personal guitar, because it looks that close to the original! Its sound is pure vintage magic, too. Overall, it sounds as warm and meaty as a rack of barbecued ribs, but it maintains excellent clarity. In the low end, bass notes feel satisfying and deep while maintaing a woody vintage character. The midrange is broad and expansive, but with enough punch to cut through a mix. Up above all that, the trebles are filled with warm, singing overtones. Anyone seeking a Les Paul with a rich, authoritative voice and goosebump-inducing vibe will find this fretboard a sweet home, indeed!

Condition Report

This raucous Rossington signature shows very few signs of play. The frets have lots of life left, and a previous owner swapped the original nut for one made of bone. This helps out with tuning stability, sustain, and resonance. It does appear that someone has changed out the electronics a couple times, though the pickups are original. So, there are some burn marks in the control cavity and on the plastic shroud by the output lead. One of Wildwood's tech put the original pots back in and replaced the capacitors with non-original caps with correct values and style. If you can look past these tiny issues, you can snag a minty Les Paul with world-beating tone!
