Used 2010 Fender Masterbuilt Custom Shop Roadshow 1962 Stratocaster by Greg Fessler – Heavy Relic
Sonic Evaluation
before we get into tone talk, let's real quick give Mr. Greg Fessler some applause for the amazing aged Sonic Blue finish on this Masterbuilt '62 Strat. One could be forgiven for thinking it's a real vintage guitar, it looks so natural! As always, Mr. Fessler imbued this guitar with an inspiring voice and powerful resonance. It has a wonderfully springy attack that highlights the percussive details of your right-hand technique before blooming into a gorgeous bell-tone. That musical "squeeze" at the front end of the note is some serious secret sauce!
On a scale of Gilmour to Hendrix, it leans more towards the warmer Voodoo-inflected Strat sounds, but it also has a lovely sparkle in the high end. The midrange is vocal and chewy, and if you dig in it really snarls, while the lows are warm and woody. The bridge pickup is a jangly snarling joy, the middle pickup is full-bodied and balanced, and the neck pickup is warm and throaty. The in-between positions also quack, chime, and chank beautifully.
If you're looking for a killer vintage-style Strat, this Fessler-forged phenom will inspire fanatical devotion!
Masterbuilt Mojo
When a master craftsman builds an instrument by hand all by themselves from start to finish, it imbues the instrument with a special brand of magical mojo that is easy to see, hear, and feel but hard to quantify. They reflect the individual personality of the builder so much that they attain distinctly human quality that makes them feel like an old friend from the moment you pick them up. It’s almost as if they have souls of their own, and nowhere is this soulfulness more evident than in our collection of Fender Masterbuilt instruments.
Each of the instruments you see on this page is the product of decades of hard work and an endless supply of passion. The people who currently hold the title of Masterbuilder have all spent years learning the ropes from the masters that came before them until they climbed the ranks and reached the upper echelon of elite guitar builders. They are some of the most adept craftspeople in the industry, and their skilled hands imbue the instruments they build with the sort of dynamic response and expressiveness that you normally only find in vintage instruments.
This guitar has been built to the exacting standards of Greg Fessler, one of the most meticulous craftspeople in the world, and it has a heart and soul that reflects the personality of its builder. We’re proud to present this 2010 Fender Masterbuilt Custom Shop Roadshow 1962 Stratocaster by Greg Fessler, and we know its timeless tone and superior playability will provide you with years and years of musical joy.
Condition Report
This phenomenal Fessler-built Strat is in fantastic shape! It shows light-to-moderate fretwear, and it has very hardly cosmetic imperfections to report. There might be some non-original relic wear, but it's impossible to tell, and it all looks cool! The tone knob is also a slightly different color, though that might have been an artistic decision as part of the relic job. Also, the strap button is non-original but has been relic'd beautifully. It comes with its original hardshell case, certificate of authenticity, bridge cover, polish cloth, and hangtags.
