Every Froggy Bottom guitar is amazing--they're batting a thousand--but I am always especially astonished at what maple becomes in the hands of their skilled artisans, and this gorgeous C Deluxe Maple 12-Fret is no exception. It has all the strengths we associate with a great maple guitar: crystalline purity, fast decay, superb articulation, excellent balance, superior note separation, a woody quality, a sweet, glassy high-end, and a sunny voice. However, it also has uncommon depth, warmth, and overtone complexity, and it fills the room with a lush natural reverberance that defies expectation.

Speaking of which, the abundant bass response (while not comparable to, say, a dreadnought) also surprised and delighted me--it's not every day a little guitar like this has this much punching power. The midrange is surprisingly muscular, too, and it packs a perfectly-sized punch. The trebles glimmer and glisten with sparkling overtones. Try as I might, I could not get this guitar to sound harsh--always a possibility at higher volumes with a maple guitar. The attack is percussive and articulate, and it's also quite springy, so this guitar is fantastically responsive.

As a fingerstyle guitar, this serial is pretty tough to beat because of its transparency, responsiveness, balance, and sweetness. However, it also loved a flatpick, even at campfire levels of strumming enthusiasm. Whatever your preferred technique is, if you desire the sweet sounds of a maple 12-fret, you'll love this guitar!

This Froggy Button is in minty-fresh, borderline-new shape! It shows extremely light signs of normal use, and it has no cosmetic imperfections to report. It comes with its original Hoffee carbon fiber case with the Thinsulate option.
