Archtop of the Mountain
Wildwoodians, this '54 L-5C is everything a hollowbody guitar should be. To put it simply, it does
The Thing. It has that iconic sweet, warm, woody voice we associate with vintage hollowbody Gibsons, and it is remarkably articulate and touch-sensitive with great note separation. The lows are pillowy and deep, the highs are sunny and meaty, and the midrange is vocal and broad. All in all, this serial can contend with any guitar on the (arch)top of the mountain when it comes to tone. Okay, we'll see ourselves out after using the same pun twice, but not before we invite you to take this bad boy for a spin and experience
The Thing for yourself!
Condition Report
This sweet L-5C is in good condition with some honest playwear. Dings and checking throughout the guitar's finish give it a dreamy vintage look. The frets are original, though they show some wear and will need a refret at some point in the future depending on what type of player you are. If you have a light touch, you likely won't be bothered for some time, but if you have a heavier touch, you will need to refret it sooner. The pickup is original, and one of the knobs is a replacement. This lovely L-5C only had one owner, and Gibson only made this model for four years. All in all, it's an outstanding example of a rare vintage Gibson guitar! It includes the original hardshell case, which shows some wear but is fully functional.
