WHAM! This '59 Historic reissue from the Gibson Custom Shop hits you like a nine-pound hammer made of sparkles. It's full and rich, with deep chocolate-y lows and broad, sonorous midrange. However, its high end is quite sparkly and lush, with lots of bell-like note bloom and chime. It's quite a nice contrast, and I found myself happily strumming away on open chords and engaging in AC/DC-esque riffage. Guitars this resonant make playing simple things a joy, because they make an E power chord sound like more than an E power chord--does that make sense? Lead players need not fear, however, because this monstrous resonance also gives single notes and double stops tremendous girth and weight. The contrast between the warmer lows and sparklier highs is quite delightful, and it makes for a remarkably expressive playing experience. Any Gibson aficionado seeking a rich, thick-sounding Les Paul will love this serial!
This guitar looks like it has hardly been played! There are no real signs of play wear. All factory paperwork, vintage reissue strap, cable and hardshell case are included. It has Bumblebee caps installed. Original bought from Wildwood Guitars! No COA due to Gibson not issuing these till later.
