Used 1978 Gibson Les Paul Artisan
Sonic Evaluation
After sitting down with this lovely vintage Gibson, I have decided to become an Artisan Partisan! This serial is a delightful study in contrast, as the pickups sing out with very different voices that complement one another beautifully. The treble position is tight and muscular with a stank face-inducing midrange grunt, while the rhythm position is beautifully thick, rich, and warm. In the middle position, they work together to create a lovely open tone with lots of chime and vocal quack. Attack-wise, it's pretty snap with just a bit of vintage-style sag and compression. It also has serious sustain--it'll ring for days! Take this serial for a spin and you'll doubtless become an Artisan Partisan, too.
Condition Report
This Les Paul Artisan is a vintage monster, and it's also in killer shape! It has the typical bumps and bruises we expect to see on a vintage guitar, and it looks really cool--mojo for days! The plastics are all original except for the switch tip, and the electronics are also all original and sound fantastic (although the 3-way switch has been rewired). The pickguard has been lost to the sands of time, and the two screws that held it in place are screwed into the body. Honestly, we dig how it looks without the pickguard! It comes with a non-original Gibson hardshell case, too.
