A Sensei's Swagger

Wildwoodians, we are proud to present you with a revered teacher with a little extra swagger: the Reverend Sensei RA . Here, the "RA" stands for radical! Let's take a closer look and examine the source of the Sensei's swagger.

Killer Korina Tones

Like most Reverends, the Sensei RA uses that old standby, korina, as its sonic cornerstone. Korina has midrange punch, warmth, and woodiness reminiscent of mahogany, but it has a sunnier overall timbre and it produces more overtones.

Chisel Away

That korina body is home to two Railhammer Chisels, which are marvels of engineering. Essentially, they are hot humbuckers with rail polepieces under the low three strings and round polepieces under the three treble strings. This unique design gives the player a number of advantages. The rail polepieces tighten up the notes on the low strings to avoid muddiness, while the round polepieces make high notes sound fatter and bigger. Overall, this means that the Sensei RA maintains immaculate balance and clarity even in high-gain situations.

As far as frequency response goes, the Chisels are voiced perfectly for any sort of music that places an emphasis on loudness, attitude, and distortion. The bridge pickup packs a walloping punch in the midrange, and it has tight lows underneath searing trebles. It's an ideal sound for rhythm work in just about every garden variety of rock, but it also works wonderfully as a cutting lead sound. The neck pickup is more muscular than gristly, so even though it sounds huge, it remains sculpted and clear. For girthy leads, it works beautifully, but it also has enough clarity to excel as a thick riff-creating machine. You can also use Reverend's famed bass contour knob to tighten up the sound of either pickup and get a brighter voicing reminiscent of an overfed P-90.

Power to the Player

Reverend has kitted out the Sensei RA with a metric ton of appointments that enhance the player's experience and while making the instrument supremely reliable. The medium oval neck profile is home to 22 .110'' wide x .055'' high frets and a fingerboard with a 12" radius, a configuration well-suited to most techniques and playing styles (and, it's especially good for bending strings). Also, it has pin-lock tuners and a Boneite nut to ensure excellent tuning stability, and it comes equipped with boutique-quality pots and caps and a Pure Tone jack for consistent sound.

I'll Have to Sensei I Love You In A Song

We're proud to showcase the Reverend Sensei RA, a guitar with an aggressive, articulate voice with plenty of dynamic range. Its stunning looks and sweet tone are sure to inspire you to reach new heights in your fretboard explorations, and we are sure it will help you make all sorts of fun noises!
