Reverend Reeves Gabrels Signature 10th Anniversary
A Decade of Monster ToneIt's a celebration, Wildwoodians! Reverend Guitars and legendary guitarist Reeves Gabrels have officially been chasing tone together for ten years! In that decade, they've dreamt up FOUR awesome signature models--quite an accomplishment. To celebrate, they've issued a gussied-up version of his original signature model called the RGX. It sports limited edition inlays, a trans black finish that highlights the maple top's grain beautifully, and a sweet chrome pickguard. And, the white binding looks awesome with the pau ferro fingerboard.
But, the RGX offers more than aesthetic delights. When you play with legends like The Cure like Reeves Gabrels does, you have to have substance to go with your style. Thankfully, the RGX oozes tone. It has a korina body and a maple top, which makes for natural punchy midrange resonance, warm lows, and a lively, sparkly high-end. It also comes equipped with a roasted maple neck, which imparts a bit of vintage-style warmth and woodiness while making the necks resonate like wooden tuning forks.
Drop the HammerOn top of this body, you will find two of Reeves Gabrel's signature Railhammer pickups, which are so delightful that they distracted me for too long while I was writing this text and now I'm going to have to stay late and finish it. I have no regrets, because it was worth it. The bridge pickup is a tweaked version of the Railhammer Alnico Grande. It's hot and punchy, with strong midrange presence, glorious treble chime, and well-defined muscular lows. The neck pickup is based on the Railhammer Hyper Vintage, but it's a little hotter and thicker. Overall, it has robust low end, open highs, and throaty, woody midrange response.
Both pickups are quite responsive to rolling off the volume, too, and you can get some lovely cleaner tones that way. You can also cop some brighter P-90-esque sounds by rolling off Reverend's legendary bass contour knob, or get some snappy twang by using the push/pull out-of-phase switch.
Fully LoadedOf course, every Reverend comes decked to the nines with player-friendly appointments, and the Charger RA is no different. It has a comfy medium oval neck profile, a 12" fretboard radius, and medium jumbo frets for optimum handfeel. It also has pin-lock tuners and boutique-quality components like pots and caps in order to ensure reliable performance.
Reevin' in the YearsWe are proud to help Reverend and Reeves celebrate their ten year-long tonequest. The guitar they have produced to commemorate the occasion is truly magnificent, and we are sure it will inspire you to reach new heights on your fretboard adventures.
