It seems hard to imagine a world without the Les Paul Custom, but that was the shocking reality between 1960 and 1968. Disappointed by slow-moving sales, Gibson discontinued the model in favor of the SG. Thankfully, some time during the great rock boom of the 1960s, guitarists realized that a Les Paul Custom is one of the coolest looking things you can step on stage with, and Gibson reissued it.
