Sonic Evaluation

The Collings C100 is a beautifully-executed idea of a delightfully novel idea: what if you take a parlor guitar and make it MORE? It has similar proportions to their C10 parlor, but with a wider 16" lower bout and a 4 3/4" body depth. This larger body gives it more fullness and depth, but the narrower waist keeps the clarity and articulation of the parlor size, giving the player the best of both worlds.

This serial's attack is round and springy, and it responds immediately to your input. Overall, it has a warm, woody voice that emphasizes the fundamental while providing a nice blend of sunny overtones. The bass response is quite hefty, but it has a dry vintage quality that keeps things sounding clear despite its relatively cavernous resonance. The mids pack a punchy and round, and the trebles have just the right amount of sparkle. Honestly, it's quite impressive how the fine folks at Collings managed to make this guitar respond like a parlor but with a bigger voice! Anyone seeking an acoustic steed for their stable with a fresh, exciting voice will love this serial's vibrant personality.

Condition Report

This Collins C100 is in fantastic shape, and it sounds gorgeous--it's a true all-terrain vehicle! Cosmetically, it shows light signs of normal use, and the only real cosmetic imperfections to report are some light scratches around the pickguard area. The frets also show some light wear but have lots of life in them, so this wooden steed is ready for many battles. It comes with its original hardshell case, too!
