Martin Guitars Standard Series M-36
Enter the 36 Chambers
Wildwoodians, we are proud to present another deep cut from Martin's catalog for you: the M-36, one of the most versatile acoustic guitars out there. The M-36 is one of Martin's lesser-known models, which is a shame because it has an inspiring voice unlike any other in the Martin lineup. Basically, it has a jumbo body with the depth of a 000-sized guitar. So, it has the depth and fullness of a jumbo, but it's responsive and clear like a 000-28.
The M-36 achieves its singular sound with a classic tonewood pairing: Sitka spruce and Indian rosewood. The Sitka top produces a balanced, punchy sound, while the rosewood back and sides add piano-like fullness to the bass frequencies and glassy shimmer to the trebles. Because of the M-36's forward-shifted 5/16" X-bracing, it is also remarkably dynamic, and you can easily get the midrange and trebles to sparkle with chiming overtones by digging in.
When you lay into the M-36 with a flatpick, it sounds like a strummer's dream. It is robust and rich without succumbing to boominess or muddiness--almost like it's already been produced, right there in the room. Single-note lines also have plenty of depth and weight, too!
However, the magic of the M-36 lies in its versatility. It's also an excellent fingerstyle guitar for players desiring a rich sound. The attack is round and piano-like, and it gives way to lush reverberance with excellent note separation. It's really easy to maintain a consistent, even attack, too!
Add in a comfortable medium-low oval neck profile with a high-performance taper, and you have a workhorse guitar that plays like a quarter horse! We're proud to present the Martin M-36, and we invite you to take one for a spin and experience its rich, dynamic, versatile sound.
