Sonic Evaluation
It's not every day you see a long-scale 12-fret acoustic, and this Martin OM-28 is proof positive that such a configuration should be more widely available. It has the projecting power, touch sensitivity, responsiveness and room-filling natural reverberance of a 12-fret, but with the springy, percussive, immediate piano-like attack of typical OM (not to mention, it has a righteously slinky handfeel!). Overall, on a scale of woody to rich, this serial is near the middle with most of its toes on the rich side.
The low-end packs a walloping focused boom, the midrange is warm and inviting, and the highs are replete with sparkling, chiming overtones. Its remarkable dynamic response makes it a wonderful fingerstyle guitar, and it also works beautifully as a bright, articulate strummer. This marvelous Martin presents an exciting new spin on the classic tone of an OM-28, and we have no doubt it will inspire you to embark on all sorts of acoustic adventures!
