Martin Guitars Custom Shop 0-28
Sonic Evaluation
When this guitar arrived, my coworker who inspects incoming instruments walked it over to my office and said "You HAVE to try this one! It's the loudest 0-28 I've ever heard!" I was supposed to go to lunch half an hour ago, but I made the mistake of picking this serial up and now my lunch is uneaten and my stomach rumbling. It was totally worth it, though, because I had a blast! It's as marvelous of a fingerstyle guitar as I've ever played thanks to its world-beating responsiveness, dynamism, and surprisingly powerful sound. It does indeed have a ridiculous amount of volume and low-end on tap, and the midrange is warm, woody and sweet. The trebles practically glisten with sparkling overtones, too.
All frequencies have excellent balance, and the note separation is top-notch, too When you play softly, it has a beautiful warmth that encompasses all sorts of rich tone colors. When you dig in, it sounds gloriously sunny and sweet. No matter the volume, every detail of your attack comes through thanks to this serial's superb articulation.
As I mentioned, this serial is a marvelous fingerstyle guitar, but I had just as much fun strumming it. It has good amount of headroom for its size, so if you're looking for a wonderfully jangly strummer (think Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull kinda vibes). Whatever you musical proclivities may be, I have no doubt this Custom Shop 0-28 will compel you to forsake lunch in favor of acoustic adventures, too!
