Martin Guitars Custom Shop 0000-28
Sonic Evaluation
The Martin 0000-28 is special because it sits right in the middle between a dreadnought and a 000, and this serial in particular is a sterling example of the model's considerable charms. It has big, lush sound that fills the room, but it also has excellent note separation, balance, and articulation. It has a percussive attack with just the right amount of squash before blooming into room-filling resonance. Though it has a massive overtone presence, the fundamental notes blend in beautifully, delivering a woody punch beneath the sparkling, three-dimensional richness. The lows are deep but well-defined, the midrange is focused and tight, and the highs are open and sunny. It's also quite touch-sensitive, which makes for a dynamic experience when playing with both fingers and a pick. If you want that classic Martin boom but with a dose of small-body articulation, this serial will delight you!
