Martin Guitars Custom Shop HD-28
Sonic Evaluation
There's something utterly bewitching about a sunburst Martin dreadnought, and this serial has that Martin magic in spades! It's an absolute wooden canon with powerful, booming low-end, sweet sparkling highs, and a surprisingly punchy midrange (which you don't see every day in a rosewood-bodied acoustic). Its attack is round and piano like, and notes spring forth from the soundhole with an almost starling immediacy. It also has plenty of headroom, which means it has a wide dynamic range with oodles and oodles of volume on top--a true banjo killer! You can really flog it without the notes "breaking," too, which makes for an immensely satisfying experience. Although it's a monster flapicker, its responsiveness also means it's a fantastic choice for fingerstylists, too. Anyone seeking a dynamic Martin dreadnought with a huge voice will love this serial!
