Martin Guitars Standard Series J-40
Fine Art
The Martin J-40 is the bee's knees! Obviously, it looks great with its bound ebony board and eye-catching abalone inlays, but it also sounds awesome! The jumbo body and the rosewood back and sides give it an uncommon depth and richness, while the sitka spruce top adds plenty of brightness and clarity to the equation. Despite its piano-like harmonic response, there's no fat anywhere on the frequency spectrum. Though ugly frequencies, flub, and flab are nowhere to be found with this beast, its not necessarily "muscular." Though it sounds massive, it remains quite refined and erudite, so perhaps it's more accurate to liken the sound of this guitar to a large, finely-sculpted statue. If you appreciate fine art and jumbo Martin sound, the J-40 will be an excellent partner in crime!
