James Tyler Wildwood-Exclusive Classic Ice Water
Sonic Evaluation
If I could get away with playing this Classic Ice Water all day I would; in fact, I'd probably play it all day every day! The name "Classic" is apt here, because it does have lots of vintage-style sounds on tap. The bridge pickup screams fluently in PAF, with raspy, snarly mids, muscular lows, open highs, and a lovely woody vintage character. The two single-coils summon the spirit of SRV with their warm, throaty character, with big bold lows, screaming highs, and vocal midrange. The in-between sounds nail that iconic quack and chirp. Overall, this serial has a beautiful balance between the fundamental tones and the overtones for a sound that's both clear and robust. If you're looking for an HSS machine with sweet vintage-inspired tones on tap, you'll think this serial is a classic, too!
