Used Vintage 1967 Martin 000-28 – Brazilian Rosewood
The Beauty of Brazilian Rosewood
Wildwoodians, this 000-28 from 1967 is a real Brazilian beauty! It's hard to capture the sonic power of Brazilian rosewood with words because it's so magnificent, and this 00-28 in particular demands a novel's worth. First things first, it distracted me from my sworn duties as a Wildwood Scribe! I sat down with this magnificent wooden beast, and when I looked up an hour had gone by--always a hazard with guitars this inspiring. It has a full-bodied, unimaginably rich sound, yet it also sounds sculpted and focused thanks to its 000 body size. It handles a flatpick or fingers with equal aplomb, and it would make an incredible vintage all-terrain vehicle for any lucky acoustic adventurer seeking supreme versatility along with the mojo that comes from a truly great vintage instrument.
Condition Report
This '67 000-28 is in fantastic shape, and it's ready to rock the stage or the studio! It shows typical playwear for a guitar of its vintage like slightly tarnished hardware, pick marks, and small dings and nicks throughout the finish. All in all, it's quite clean! The fine folks and Woodsongs Lutherie did a neck reset and a refret in 2003, so it's ready to sing sweetly for years to come. Also, previous owner was kind enough to install a new bone nut and saddle. Finally, there are a few crack and ding repairs on the top, mostly on the bass-side lower bout. It comes with a non-original hardshell case, too.
