Used 2015 Martin Limited SS-GP42-15 – #38 of 50
A Rare Beauty
Wildwoodians, this rare Martin is from a run of just fifty guitars made specially for the Winter NAMM show in 2015, and its rarity is only matched by its beauty and spectacular tone. Though it is an exquisite limited piece, it's also an absolute sonic titan thanks to its outstanding tonewoods. The top is made of European spruce that has been treated with Martin's VTS process, which ages the wood to give it a woody, vintage characteristic.
Frankly, VTS and European spruce are a match made in heaven! Euro spruce produces a rich bouquet of overtones, while the VTS treatment boosts warmth and clarity. The back and sides are made of beautiful koa with a Madagascar rosewood wedge, which is a glorious pairing. The koa contributes a woody midrange punch along with a sunny, sweet high end and a delightful sparkle. Also, the Grand Performance body allows it to cover a lot of ground stylistically as a strummer and fingerstyle guitar, so it's an all-terrain vehicle.
All in all, it makes for a robust yet clear tone with outstanding overtone presence. We have no doubt it will make some lucky Martin maniac a very happy guitar picker!
Condition Report
This highly-limited Martin is in fantastic shape! It has just a few small cosmetic imperfections to report: some light pick marks in the pickguard area, some nicks and chips throughout the finish (the most noticeable of which are by the bridge and the headstock face), and some very light checking in a few spots (the binding inlay, the back inlays, and on the top behind the bridge). Also, the frets are in great shape, showing only extremely light wear. It comes with its original hardshell case, too!
