First things first: koa has one heck of a sweet sound, especially when used for hollowbodies. Its woody, percussive attack, warm midrange, and sweet highs are immediately apparent in its unplugged resonance and even more noticeable when you plug in. And, there's a bit of muscular mahogany forming the guitar's sides, so there's a little bit of extra oomph in the mids. Also, this potent Private Stock beast has a gloss nitrocellulose finish, so it breathes and resonates like nobody's business!

Koa's voice pairs beautifully with PRS's underwound 58/15LT humbuckers. Based on classic humbuckers from vintage single-cut guitars, these pickups put out warm lows, singing highs, and soaring, sparkling midrange. Together, the pickups and the wood give this guitar a warm, rich voice that maintains exceptional clarity and articulation. You can hear rich purple, orange, red, and amber overtones pop out of the guitar through an overdriven amp. Closing your eyes and striking a big major seven chord makes you feel like you're on a beach at sunset in Oahu!
