Sonic Evaluation

When I plugged this gorgeous 2016 McCarty in, my immediate reaction was "Oh no! This is far too much octane for before noon!" Nevertheless, I cranked the volume, and chugging away on this guitar for a few minutes was like a nitrous oxide boost for the soul. It has a vintage soul, but it's also quite muscular and powerful--sort of like a PAF guitar on steroids. The attack is percussive and articulate with a sweet dash of compression and sag that reminds me of the great singlecut guitars of yesteryear, and it's practically dripping with harmonic overtones.

Despite its rich, robust voice, it's hard to get it to sound muddy, as its balance and clarity are superb. The bridge pickup has tight low-end, snarling mids, and open, sparkling trebles, while the neck pickup is deep, warm, and woody with fat lows, broad midrange, and glassy trebles. If you're looking for a fast and furious singlecut, this monster McCarty will inspire you endlessly!

Condition Report

This 2016 McCarty is in fantastic shape with just a few small cosmetic imperfections to report. It has some small dings and chips (mostly on the back and sides), some of which are missing color. The finish has chipped along the binding on on the treble side from the fifth fret to about the fourteenth fret, too. There are also some scratches and tarnishing on on the hardware, and there is an area of delamination around the strap button on the butt end of the guitar. It comes with its original hardshell case.
