Used 2015 Collings OM2H MR G
Sonic Evaluation
If you put me in solitary confinement for a year with just this Collings OM2H MR G, I think you'd find me reluctant to leave the room on day 366! It's just that good. It's a marvelous example of the powers of its German spruce and Madagascan rosewood and of their special alchemy when combined. Madagascan rosewood is known for being very similar to Brazilian rosewood in tone and appearance, and its ridiculous overtone presence, deep rich bass response, and sparkling sweet trebles are on full display here.
Compared to its Sitka and Adirondack cousins, German spruce is a bit subtler, producing more overtones and responding a bit more consistently at lower volumes, though it still has plenty of a projecting power and a strong fundamental. It amplifies the Madagascan rosewood's overtone profile, making for an unbelievably lush, expansive sound. Despite all its depth and fullness, it still has excellent note separation and clarity, allowing complex chord voicings to ring out clearly.
I was equally delighted by this serial whether I played with a pick or fingers. The incredible richness of sound makes for a intoxicating fingerstyle experience, and it has a wonderfully sunny, sparkling, jangly voice as a strummer/picker (it can also take quite a flogging without the notes breaking if you like to strum hard!). Whatever your musical proclivities may be, this Collings OM2H MR G will make you want to lock yourself in with it and throw away the key!
Condition Report
This Collings OM2H MR G is in fantastic shape! It shows very light signs of normal use (mostly just light scratches and tiny dings), mostly around the soundhole. There's also some faint fretwear, but the frets still measure .078 inches by .043 inches, so they're ready to rock for a long time! It comes with its original hardshell case, too.
