Introduced in 1955, the Les Paul Special was initially conceived as the intermediate model between the stripped down, single pickup Les Paul Junior and it’s higher end brother, the legendary dual pickup equipped Les Paul Standard. The Les Paul Special was affectionately embraced, leaving a phenomenal legacy that featured numerous changes. Originally sporting two incredible P-90 pickups that delivered signature Les Paul snarl and sonic splendor, the Les Paul Special was a powerhouse in an attractive package. From single cutaway to double cutaway, from TV Yellow to Cherry and beyond, the Les Paul Special changed and evolved with the rest of the Gibson lineup over the years, though it’s fanatical following remained strong and consistent. Wildwood Guitars is proud to honor this wonderful model that opened the doors for players all over the world to fall in love with the Les Paul, a now legendary instrument.
