Used 2011 Martin 00-28VS 12-Fret

Sonic Evaluation

My immediate reaction upon strumming the first chord on this lovely 2011 Custom Shop 00-28VS 12-fret was to exclaim "Ooh, lively!" and that pretty much tells the whole story! This serial has a vibrant, expressive personality with rich resonance, and it responds to your touch with lightning speed. It's also a marvelously dynamic instrument, and you can really alter its timbre by varying your right hand attack. Speaking of which, the attack is lovely, with just the right amount of give before the guitar's natural reverberance blooms. The lows are shockingly deep for a 00, the midrange is woody and clear, and the trebles are laden with sparkling sweetness. Even though it sounds huge, it still maintains excellent balance and string separation.

As you might have guessed, these qualities make it a fingerstyle monster capable of laying waste to entire cities with its acoustic power (that may seem a little bombastic for an acoustic description, but trust me, it's accurate!). But, it's also a lot of fun to strum if you're seeking a more focused, janglier acoustic sound. This 00-28VS is even livelier than Dallas Mavericks center Dereck Lively II, which is saying something, and it'll have you jumping for joy so much you might be able to dunk like him!

Condition Report

This Custom Shop Martin 00-28VS is in fantastic shape! The frets show some light wear, and they measure .078 inches by .036 inches. There is some very light playwear from normal use on the body--mainly some teeny-tiny dings and faint scratches. The finish has checked significantly on the top, but it's hard to see unless it's in the right light and the right angle. The tuners have tarnished a tad, and the finish has been disrupted in front of the bridge. It comes with its original hardshell case, too!
