All You Need

As a guitar player, love is all you need, and by "love" we mean a single P-90 in the bridge position. That's why we're head-over-heels for the Reverend Sensei Jr., a no-nonsense, no-frills beast that manages to be exquisitely simple and incredibly versatile.

Here's all you need to know about why the Sensei Jr. is special (we'll get to specs in a moment). Wildwood staff member Lance is the ultimate shredlord in Wildwood history. His chops would humble anyone on the staff if we were foolish enough to challenge him to a Crossroads-style guitar battle, and he records crazy-cool zany metal music in his spare time. Lance only owns two guitars: a red Sensei Jr, and another red Sensei Jr. With them, he's able to get all the tones he needs for his records, and their playability is up to his obsessive standards.

Of course, that's not to say that the single P-90 doesn't have a ton of raw attitude hiding within its wires. This guitar can certainly excel at rawer forms of music. It's precise, yes, but it has plenty of muscle and swagger. Virtuosos and punk rockers alike will find much to love here!

The Sensei's Power

So, what is the source of the Senei Jr.'s broad appeal among guitar players of all stripes? Well, the magic begins with the korina body. Korina has the punchiness and warmth of mahogany, but its top-end is a bit livelier and sunnier than its hardwood brother.

Within that korina body, you'll find an Alnico 5 P-90 and volume, tone, and bass contour knobs. With all these knobs on ten, the P-90 sounds fierce: robust, roaring midrange to go with rich chiming highs and muscular low-end. When you roll the bass contour knob off, you find yourself in a much different sonic space. The lows are tight, the midrange is focused and vocal, and the highs have a delightful sparkle and chime about them. And, it always remains remarkably articulate and touch-sensitive.

With these sounds, you can conquer the world. You can access screaming blues, Nashville twang, indie jangle, snotty punk, Sabbathian heaviness, chug-riffic thrash, Hendrixian throatiness, classic rock sparkle-punch, and even some nice jazzy sounds if you roll off the tone knob. It's the sort of sound that fits in anywhere. A single P-90 certainly isn't a Swiss Army knife, but who needs a Swiss Army knife when you've got a machete?

Power to the Player

Reverend has kitted out the Sensei Jr. with a metric ton of appointments that enhance the player's experience and while making the instrument supremely reliable. The medium oval neck profile is home to 22 0.110" wide x 0.050" high frets and a fingerboard with a 12" radius, a configuration well-suited to most techniques and playing styles (and, it's especially good for bending strings). Also, it has pin-lock tuners and a Boneite nut to ensure excellent tuning stability, and it comes equipped with boutique-quality pots and caps and a Pure Tone jack for consistent sound. Finally, an angled six-bolt neck plate increases stability and resonance while allowing easy access to the upper frets.

No Neck Pickup Required

We're proud to showcase the Sensei Jr., a guitar that proves that neck pickups aren't strictly necessary. Its powerful voice fits in almost any musical context, and it excels in a wide variety of genres. Nevertheless, its elegant simplicity makes it an easy-to-use guitar on the stage, in the studio, or on the couch. We're sure you'll agree that one P-90 is all you need if you take the Sensei Jr. for a spin!
