Bolan a Perfect Game
Wildwoodians, Marc Bolan was an iconoclast of the highest order, and the music he made with T-Rex helped kick the glam rock revolution into full swing. Throughout his too-short career, his main guitar was a late-fifties Gibson Les Paul with a seventies Les Paul Custom neck (installed after he snapped the orignal) that he refinished a beautiful transparent orange color. This amazing guitar is part of a limited run of 100 aged recreations of Marc Bolan's iconic original guitar from 2012, and boy howdy, did Gibson ever pull out all the stops!
They mimicked the color of the finish and the aging pattern with shocking accuracy, and they got all the little details like the black finish on the neck and the Zebra-pattern humbucker in the neck position, too. Looking at this guitar, it's easy to see why the original has such a reputation: the transparent DIY finish (which Gibson dubbed Bolan Chablis, an apt moniker), the worn-in quality, and the "wait, is that a Les Paul Custom neck?" factor all combine to give it an air of raw, magnetic rock and roll power. It's a stunning replica of one of the coolest guitars ever, but it walks the walk too thanks to its spectacular-sounding AlNiCo III Custombuckers, which deliver pitch-perfect vintage PAF tone.
We're proud to showcase this incredible Marc Bolan Signature Les Paul Standard, and we have no doubt it will help you achieve your destiny and become a true Electric Warrior.
Sonic Evaluation
This Marc Bolan Signature Les Paul Standard may be a collector's item, but it sounds so killer we would have banged a gong to celebrate if we had one (it's probably a good idea that we don't). It's one of those Les Pauls that practically ripple with sonic muscle, and it has a rude disposition to boot. It has a woody, Tele-on-steroids kind of attack that lends it excellent percussive articulation, after which each note blooms beautifully. The lows are fat and warm, the midrange is throaty and dripping with overtones, and the high-end has a delicious sizzle with lots of high-end harmonic content. If you're looking for a beefy-sounding Les Paul, this serial will scratch the itch!
Condition Report
This Marc Bolan Les Paul is in magnificent condition; in fact, it shows virtually no signs of use. It comes with its original hardshell case and hang tags plus a certificate of authenticity and a strap.
