Used 2007 Gretsch G6120 Chet Atkins Hollowbody
Sonic Evaluation
This '07 Gretsch Chet Atkins is an absolute powerhouse with a stupendous capacity to inspire creativity--I definitely had a few moments were it felt like the guitar pushed me to play something that was frankly way cooler than what I normally come up with, a surefire sign that it's a killer. It sounds fat, warm, and open, with marvelous clarity. You can play fancy suspended chord voicings even with a ton of gain and still get superb string separation, even in the neck position. That's really saying something, because this guitar sounds quite rich and expansive!
To put it more concretely, the low end is deep and piano-like, the midrange has that signature vocal quality Gretsches are beloved for, and the highs are open and sparkly. The bridge pickup is more focused, with nice bite and chime, while the neck pickup is broader and throatier. The middle position fills the entire sonic spectrum, and it jangles beautifully. Across the board, this guitar has a killer overtone profile with lots of even-order harmonic response, which translates to a rich, sweet sound. It also has a very articulate, percussive attack that captures the nuances of your right-hand technique with exceptional fidelity.
If you're looking for a killer Gretsch hollowbody, this Chet Atkins model will take you to the promised land of tone!
Condition Report
This Gretsch is in fantastic shape with just a few small cosmetic imperfections. It shows extremely light signs of normal use, and it has barely any fretwear. There's a ding on the side of the bass-side lower bout, and a smaller ding on the back by the bass-side lower bout. The hardware also shows light-to-moderate tarnishing. It comes with its original hardshell case, too! All in all, it's quite clean, and it sounds fantastic!
