Sonic Evaluation

The gold sparkle finish on the 2010 Custom Shop LP is quite appropriate, because it sounds as rich as Scrooge McDuck diving into his vault of gold coins! It has a seriously rich, warm harmonic profile--it's practically dripping in overtones! On a scale of springy to twangy, the attack is near the middle, with just the right amount of vintage-style sag and articulation. Overall, it has a very open voice, and "voice" is the right word, because this serial sings--think of what Pavarotti would sound like if someone hit him with the ray gun from Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and made him a hundred feet tall and you'll get an idea of this guitar's presence. The bridge pickup is as big, mean, and balanced as a grizzly bear popping a wheelie on a bike, and the neck pickup is glorious, with massive lows, woody mids, and singing highs. Sparkle On!

Wildwoodians, we don't say this lightly, but after much consideration and scientific study, we have decided that playing with this sparkle-finish limited-edition Custom Shop Les Paul Standard is more fun than playing with a sparkler when you were a kid (which was pretty fun, so that's really saying something!). Stately ebony back and sides complement the regal gold sparkle finish beautifully--it will certainly sparkle somebody's eyes! And, its Burstbucker pickups give it plenty of vintage PAF flavor, so it has plenty of muscle but also an expressive voice capable of unlocking your creativity. In this case, all that glitters really IS gold!

Condition Report

This limited-edition beauty is in minty shape, and it shows only the barest signs of normal use. It comes with its original hardshell case and hangtags along with a certificate of authenticity.
