Buckshot Through the Heart and You're Too Late

The Reverend Buckshot most assuredly does not give love a bad name; in fact, it put an arrow through our collective hearts! Its stylish retro-futuristic appointments, sleek offset body shape, and inspiring combination of pickups made us all a little weak in the knees. It's a marvelously versatile guitar that allows you to cop many cool off-the-beaten-path tones that are splendid for lots of genres, and it has that trademark Reverend reliability.

As with all Reverends, the Buckshot's cornerstone is its korina body. As a tonewood, korina shares many characteristics with mahogany. It's warm, punchy, and it responds quickly to your touch. However, korina has a bit more bite and harmonic liveliness in the top-end. As you might guess, korina-bodied guitars like the Buckshot are warm and responsive, but they also cut right through a mix.

Greasy T and The Retrobucker

The Buckshot's electronics work perfectly in tandem with the natural tone of the wood. The bridge pickup is a Greasy T single-coil, and it has the same sort of frequency response you'd expect a T-style bridge pickup. It has plenty of midrange bite, it's snappy, and it has lots of lovely chiming overtones in the highs. But, our friends at Reverend overwound it slightly. So, it has a bit more depth and fatness and a wider midrange punch while maintaining excellent percussive articulation. In other words, it's an awful lot like a '50s T-style pickup. And, when you roll off Reverend's famed bass contour knob in the bridge position, the tone thins out and you get more of a "white guard"-style sound.

The Retrobucker in the neck position--which is new for 2020--is a refreshing take on the classic mini-humbucker design. It's brighter and tighter than a typical humbucker, but it still sounds quite robust. The highs have plenty of chime, the lows are girthy, and the midrange packs a focused but sizable punch. When you roll off the bass contour knob you get a full, rich sound with sculpted low-end for when you need beef without gristle.

With the Greasy T and the Retrobucker, you can cop a wide variety of classic sounds that suit a wide variety of genres. No matter your musical proclivities, the Buckshot will provide you with some incredibly inspiring tone!

Power to the Player

Reverend has kitted out the Buckshot with a metric ton of appointments that enhance the player's experience and make it supremely reliable. The medium oval neck profile is home to 22 0.110" wide x 0.050" high frets and a fingerboard with a 12" radius, a configuration well-suited to most techniques and playing styles (and, it's especially good for bending strings). Also, it has pin-lock tuners and a Boneite nut to ensure excellent tuning stability, and it comes equipped with boutique-quality pots and caps and a Pure Tone jack for consistent sound. Finally, an angled six-bolt neck plate increases stability and resonance while allowing easy access to the upper frets.

Buckshot in the Dark

The Reverend Buckshot is a killer guitar with a unique and inspiring voice. By putting a modern spin on two classic pickups, it brings vintage sounds into the modern era. Of course, its versatility and reliability are also top-notch, so it is ready to tear up the stage, the studio, or the sofa. Take a shot in the dark and take one for a spin! Once you do, we're sure the buck will stop there.
