Used 2021 Martin Guitars Standard Series HD-28
Sonic Evaluation
There's something truly special about the way a great Martin opens up when its been played, and this 2021 HD-28 exhibits all of those cool characteristics. It's like someone seasoned its tone, making the lows boom more and the highs sparkle more. Speaking of boom, this thing packs a wallop in the low register. Bluegrass players talk about seeking guitars that are "banjo killers;" well, if that's the case, this one is sure to be covered in viscera, gore, and bloody pieces of Mylar!
Not to be outdone, the trebles ring out like a wooden church bell, with lush, chiming overtones balancing out the thunder in the low-end. Despite its punching power and considerable richness, this guitar also maintains excellent clarity. Its attack quite stout and able to withstand a sledgehammer-inspired right-hand technique without splatting out, and it has tons of headroom, so it sounds open even at high volumes.
If you're looking to experience the magic of a well-seasoned Martin, you should check this HD-28 out. I have no doubt it will make thoughts of massacred banjos dance in your head!
Condition Report
This Martin HD-28 shows a bit of honest playwear, but nothing egregious. The finish shows light signs of use with a few bigger marks, the most noticeable of which are on the top by by the butt end of the guitar. The frets show moderate wear, especially under the unwound strings--a common occurrence on guitars that are as fun to play and hard to put down as this guitar! A previous owner installed a strap button on the neck heel, too. It comes with its original hardshell case, too!
