A 325 on Steroids
In the early days of the Beatles, John Lennon purchased a Rickenbacker 325 from a music shop in Hamburg, Germany, and its sparkling, jangly tone quickly became an integral part of the Beatles' sound. The iconic bell-like note bloom of Lennon's Rick also became one of THE rock guitar sounds, and legions of guitarists sought out their own 325s to cop his sound. Of course, the 325 is a short-scale instrument, measuring 20-3/4" from nut to tailpiece. Playing such a different neck requires a not-insignificant amount of adjustment to the player's technique, and some players have a difficult time making the change.
