A Legacy of Tone

Wildwoodians, our friends at Taylor Guitars have been reinventing the acoustic guitar ever since they hit the ground running 1975, and they've changed the landscape of the acoustic world with their innovative designs and fresh approach. Now, to celebrate their 50th Anniversary, they've decided to take a look back and their company's history with their Legacy Collection. Basically, the Legacy Collection is an exploration of where Taylor came from. Based on some of Bob Taylor's earliest designs, Legacy Collection guitars feature X-bracing instead of V-Class bracing in a configuration that hearkens back to the early days of the company, as well as cosmetic appointments inspired by vintage Taylors. This guitar is especially cool, because it's one of the first 100 made, which means that Kurt Lustig and Bob Taylor hand-signed its interior label. What does all of that translate to sonically? Read on and find out!

Sonic Evaluation

Wildwoodians, this Legacy 815e lowers the boom like prime Ronnie Lott! Seriously, this guitar has so much low-end that the only possible comparisons you can draw are to Hall of Fame defensive backs. If you're looking to feel joy, the process is simple: simply fret a chord, strum loudly, and repeat, then watch this guitar's rich, lush voice and room-filling resonance chase your blues away! Overall, this guitar produces a powerful overtone response, and across the board each note practically drips with harmonic information. Nevertheless, the fundamental has plenty of presence to ensure that this serial remains clear and balanced.

As previously mentioned, the low-end is positively cavernous, and the low E will rattle your fillings. The midrange is quite robust, with a lovely clarity and transparency to it. In the highs, you'll find a captivating example of that signature Taylor sparkle. Even at high volumes, this serial sounds open and full thanks to its shocking headroom, and it has a percussive, springy attack. This means you can really flog it and it will still sound great.

Basically, if you're searching for a rich-sounding jumbo guitar, this serial will provide you with endless musical delights!
