Used 1990 Heritage Golden Eagle
Sonic Evaluation
My goodness, this Heritage Golden Eagle brought something entirely foreign out of me when I plugged it in, so much so that one of my colleagues came into my office to make sure it was really me playing it! It's one of the coolest sounding hollowbodies I've ever picked up. Likely because it is made of all solid woods, it's so resonant acoustically and has such amazing character that I could see myself recording it with a mic--who needs a pickup? It has a sweet, woody, warm, pure tone acoustically that I find utterly addictive, and these qualities are only magnified when you plug in. It does The Archtop Thing: it sounds warm, but with crystalline fidelity and impeccable clarity. No matter how twisted the chord is, every note rings out sonorously and purely. Single notes have tons of mass, too! And, the attack is woody, percussive, and detailed, but it's like the guitar sands off all the rough edges of your pick attack for purely pleasant attack.
If you're looking for a special hollowbody to inspire you to reach new heights in your playing, check this Golden Eagle out!
Condition Report
This Heritage Golden Eagle is in fantastic shape! The frets are original, and they show very little wear, as they measure .103 inches by .040 inches. There are light signs of wear from normal use like small dings, nicks, and scratches scattered throughout the finish, and there is checking in the typical places: around the headstock logo, along the binding, and by the fret ends. The hardware has also tarnished somewhat--a common occurrence. There are a few repaired top cracks (the most notable of which is the center seam under the tailpiece), but the guitar is fully structurally sound and has a clean bill of health. Finally, the pickup is original and its output measures 4.35k ohms. It comes with a non-original Gibson USA hardshell case, too!
