Dave Friedman and Grover Jackson are both absolute tone warlocks, and we guitarists should thank our lucky stars that they decided to join forces and build Friedman Guitars together. Dave, of course, achieved widespread notoriety as an amp tweaker to the stars, modding Marshalls and building switching systems for players like Richie Sambora, Eddie Van Halen, and Jerry Cantrell before starting his own amplifier company. Grover, on the other hand, chose the six-string route and started both Charvel and Jackson in the eighties. All sorts of legends wielded the axes he built in battle, and his guitars formed the sonic backbone of dozens of classic hard rock and metal records.

When these two legendary rock warriors formed an unholy guitar-building union a few years ago, we rejoiced. What delectable sonic treats would these two mad geniuses cook up together? As we expected, their creations reached unheard-of levels of sonic savagery. By using a combination of old-world handcrafting techniques and modern precision engineering, they managed to build guitars with incredible amounts of vibe and mojo while achieving superior playability. Essentially, the Friedman Guitars you see below sound like hot-rodded vintage guitars with a little extra muscle, but they play as fast as a vintage Jackson.
