Condition Report

This Rickenbacker 4080 is an absolute hoss, and a rare beast at that! You don't see too many doubleneck Ricks, and this one is in a pretty rare finish. It sounds amazing, and it's quite clean, although it has had a few modifications over the years. The finish looks great, showing some wear from normal use, nicks, scratches, dings, and chips with a crack in the pickguard, but far less than you'd expect for a guitar of this vintage.

The finish looks great, showing some wear from normal use, nicks, scratches, dings, and chips with a crack in the pickguard, but far less than you'd expect for a guitar of this vintage.

There's also some light fretwear on both necks, and the hardware has tarnished a little. A previous owner installed 3 mini toggle switches. One allows sound from both necks to come through at the same time, one seems like a phase switch but has a negligible effect on the tone, and the third one seems like it's not working as intended (we think it was originally supposed to turn off a tone cap, but it currently defeats the bridge position.)

Outside of those switches, everything looks original! The necks both have working truss rods, but they're a little hard to adjust--no easy access here. The bass neck is bolted and glued in, while the guitar neck is just bolted on. There is some material removed from underneath the neck pickup on the guitar neck, too. This odd arrangement leads us to believe it underwent some post-factory work.

All in all, this is a super clean, unique piece guaranteed to make your fellow guitar players green with jealous rage when you pull it out! It comes with its original hardshell case, too!
