Frequently Asked Questions

Is the guitar in the photo the same guitar I'll receive? Wildwood Guitar Wildwood Guitar

Yes, it most certainly is! We photograph each and every guitar in our inventory individually so you can find the exact serial that speaks most to you. We also weigh all of our electric instruments, and we measure each instrument’s neck to give you an idea of how each guitar will feel. So, you can have absolute confidence that the guitar you fell in love with will be the same one that arrives at your door!

Is the guitar I’m looking at a floor model?  Wildwood Guitar Wildwood Guitar

The short answer is no! We don’t really do floor models at Wildwood. After each guitar arrives and passes a rigorous inspection from our techs, we post it to the website and put it back in its case or box. Then, we store it in our warehouse, where our state-of-the-art humidification system keeps it minty-fresh until it’s time to ship it out! Some guitars may have been taken for a test drive, but we do everything we can to ensure that each instrument we sell leaves in the same or better condition than when it arrived.

What are those numbers underneath the pictures of the guitar listing?  Wildwood Guitar Wildwood Guitar

They’re the guitar’s weight and neck measurements! We format them in decimals rather than fractions, so if a guitar shows a weight of 7.16 lbs. that means it weighs seven pounds and 16/100ths of a pound–no ounces here. As far as neck measurements go, the first number is how thick the neck is at the first fret and the second number is how thick it is at the twelfth fret. We also use decimals here, so .830-.930 means the guitar measures 83/100ths of an inch at the first fret and 93/100ths of an inch at the twelfth fret. It’s also worth noting that we make these measurements on the fretboard and not at the fret to give you a true idea of how thick the neck is. We don’t weigh acoustic guitars, but we do measure their necks, too. We do all of this to give you a tactile sense of how each guitar feels so you can find the right instrument for you from the comfort of your own home!

Can you set my instrument up before shipping? Wildwood Guitar Wildwood Guitar

Boy howdy, will we ever! We want your instrument to play awesome the moment it comes out of the box, so we include a free setup with every guitar we sell from one of our in-house guitar techs. Give your salesperson your preferred set of strings, gauges, and tuning (for example, a whole step down), and we’ll do our best to accommodate your preferences. Please note that this is not the kind of personally tailored setup you might get from your luthier. We’re happy to get your guitar ready to rock and/or roll, but we aren’t able to, say, put each string at your preferred height within 1/64th of an inch or set your Strat up in B standard with eight-gauge strings. What we can do is make sure your guitar rips from the moment you pick it up!

What forms of payment do you accept? Wildwood Guitar Wildwood Guitar

We accept American Express, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Paypal, Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Amazon Pay, Google Pay, Venmo and Affirm for digital and local orders. For local customers, we also accept cash or checks.

Do I have to pay taxes on my purchase?  Wildwood Guitar Wildwood Guitar

Unless you submit the proper Tax Exempt paperwork, yes. Starting in 2018, it became Federal law for online retailers with a physical location to charge taxes on online purchases. Taxes for your purchase are calculated using the sales tax rate of the shipping address. Local pickups are taxed at the local rate for our shop here in Louisville, Colorado.

What is your return policy?  Wildwood Guitar Wildwood Guitar

We want to make sure that you love your new instrument, so we offer a 48-hour approval period starting when you receive your instrument to give you ample time to evaluate it. If it just isn’t the one, you can contact a salesperson to initiate the return process as long as you’re in that 48-hour window. Your salesperson will issue you a return authorization, and we’ll send you a return label. Please note that in the event of a return, the buyer is responsible for all shipping costs both ways. The instrument also must return to us in its original condition with all of its case candy in its original shipping box and packing materials. Once we inspect and evaluate the return, we’ll initiate the return process. Please also be aware that credit card refunds may take three or more days to process, so the funds may not show up in your account immediately.

I see that your physical store is open by appointment only–how do I set up a visit? Wildwood Guitar Wildwood Guitar

This is all to make sure you get a chance to play everything you want to (trust us, it helps to have a plan–sometimees our staff even gets overwhelmed by all the amazing guitars in our inventory!).

My order was damaged during shipping–what do I do? Wildwood Guitar Wildwood Guitar

Although we strive to set the industry standard for safety in packing and shipping, accidents do happen, and sometimes a musician’s worst nightmare comes true and your new gear gets damaged in shipping. Fortunately, you won’t be stuck with broken gear, and we’ll make sure you get a full refund or an exchange for a similar instrument. We also strive to make the process as hassle-free for you as possible. All we need are pictures of the shipping box with close-up photos of any damage to the box or packing materials, pictures of the damage to the instrument and case (the more pictures, the better!), and any other information you’d like us to know. Then, we’ll send you a return label and get your refund or exchange started!

Do you ship internationally? Wildwood Guitar Wildwood Guitar

In most cases, yes! If you’re a Wildwoodian from somewhere else on the globe, let us know your country and postal code along with the item you’re interested in and we can give you a shipping quote (please note that these quotes do NOT include duties or taxes that may be collected upon arrival). For Canadian Wildwoodians, we recommend signing up for FedEx Delivery Manager because it allows you to expedite the Customs process. Also, because of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, we are unable to ship certain instruments with certain species of wood like Brazilian Rosewood outside of the United States.
