When I plugged this bass in, I almost involuntarily started playing Cliff Burton's classic Metallica bass solo "Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth)." A jean jacket with a Motorhead patch on the back spontaneously appeared over my t-shirt, and I found that all my facial hair had disappeared save for a Fu Manchu. That's the kind of transportive rock and roll power this bass has!
More specifically, this bass is the definition of an angry-sounding Rickenbacker. It growls with the fierceness of a grizzly bear that just stubbed its toe. The attack hits with a visceral snarl that demands everyone in the room pay attention when you play hard, but it becomes righteously smooth if you play with more of a McCartney-style attitude. The low-end is gargantuan, the midrange is broad and rich, and the highs have that signature Rickenbacker glassy chime (and have tons of meat to them to boot!).

This Rickenbacker 4003 from '74 is quite clean! It shows some light fretwear, and the finish shows typical wear for a vintage instrument: some scratches, chips, dings, and light hardware tarnishing. There are also a couple of drips of white paint on the upper horn that we could likely remove. Currently, it has the "vintage" cap like a modern Rick installed on the bridge pickup, which could easily bypassed to unlock the full power of the bridge. It comes with its original hardshell case, too!
