This Martin HD-28 2R is in fantastic shape! It has clearly been played a lot but also has been lovingly maintained. It shows light wear from normal use, mostly just some light, small dings, scratches and scuffs, with one slightly more pronounced area of scuffing behind the nut on the peghead face (likely from a strap). It has an area on its heel where a strap button used to be but has now been filled, with a new button placed through the end cap on the heel. There is also some light checking around the binding--a common occurrence.Â
The frets seem to have received a level at some point, and they measure .078 inches by .032 inches. We replaced the original saddle and installed a new compensated micarta saddle because the original was too low (the original is in the case pocket). The neck angle looks great! However, the bridge plate is worn and the ball ends of the strings are starting to eat into the top, which makes re-stringing it a bit of a challenge. Our techs recommend adding a bridge plate retainer.Â
More important than all of that, this guitar sounds fantastic! It also comes with its original hardshell case.
