This 000-21 has been battle-tested but also lovingly taken care of and maintained with expert repair work, and its spectacular sound and playability is a testament to the greatness of Martin's craftsmanship. First off, we'll talk about what's original and what's not. It has undergone a refret, and the new frets show light wear, measuring .080 inches by .035 inches. Remarkably, it appears to have never needed a neck reset (we could be wrong on this, but the glue around the end block doesn't look disturbed, and there are no tell-tale signs like drill holes on the fretboard at the body joint or disruption around the fretboard tongue). The neck angle is good, and it can be set up for fingerstyle action. The nut, tuners and bridge look original, and the saddle might be, too.

Now, on to cosmetics! There is a significant amount of lacquer damage on the side and back by the bass-side lower bout, and it seems likely that it's water damage (which does not affect the structural integrity at all. There's incredible checking throughout the finish to the point where it looks almost crinkled in a really cool way, but the finish has adhered well and does not flake off. It has all the typical bumps and bruises we expect on a guitar of this vintage like chipping and missing finish, and there are a handful of small cracks that have been repaired on the top, back, and sides. There's one open crack on the bass side, but it's insignificant and appears to have been open for awhile. The pickguard is original and has adhered well, and it produced the typical Martin pickguard cracks due to shrinking, but they too have been repaired and look stable.
It also sounds lovely, and comes with an aftermarket hardshell case.
