When I flipped to the neck position of this EB-3 for the first time, the low-end moved so much air that I felt a noticeable breeze from the amp on my legs. It's a downright scary instrument! It's a warm, woody, woofy beast with endless low-end, a percussive thump in the attack, a complex, rich midrange, and fat trebles. The bridge pickup is muscular and growly like a mountain lion and punchy like George Foreman. the neck pickup lowers the boom with bass response you can physically feel alongside a broad midrange response with smooth, powerful high-end. And, it's in a rare white finish! If you're looking for a rare and special vintage bass, check this EB-3 out!
This EB-3 has the typical battle scars you'd expect for a vintage instrument, including a minor repaired body crack next to the control cavity. The finish shows awesome-looking checking throughout, and it's practically dripping with mojo. There's also some missing finish and checking around the neck joint, but it appears completely solid.
At some point, it underwent a refret, and the new frets are in fantastic shape and show no signs of wear, measuring .101 inches by .034 inches. The tuners, bridge, electronics, pickguard, and pickup are original, but the knobs and strap buttons are replacements. The nut has been replaced, too, and the mute has been removed, but the originals are still in the case. At some point, a previous owner enlarged the bridge pickup cavity, and we're not really sure why--perhaps to make it easier to remove the pickup.
