Mahogany on the bottom, koa on the top, SG Custom goodness throughout

The Gibson Custom SG Custom with Koa Top, Gloss, Walnut brings a bold new voice to one of the most celebrated designs in the Gibson lineup. Part of the Gibson Custom Limited Edition Collection, this model is inspired by years of standout Made to Measure special orders and the creative vision of the artisans at the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville, Tennessee. Its foundation is unmistakably SG, yet every detail has been carefully considered to deliver a striking instrument worthy of the Custom name.

At the center of its visual identity is a beautiful koa top, an inspired pairing with the guitar's solid mahogany body. The koa adds depth, complexity, and a subtle luminosity beneath the gloss Walnut nitrocellulose lacquer finish, giving this SG Custom a rich presence that stands apart from traditional configurations. The body is left without weight relief, allowing the materials' natural mass and resonance to shape its voice.

The neck is carved from mahogany to the SG Custom profile. Historic and Modern SG Customs have neck thicknesses identical to the revered "Carmelita" '59 Les Paul at the 1st and 12th frets, but feature a flatter profile and a unique shape. The profile offers a substantial yet comfortable feel that invites expressive playing across the entire fretboard. A bound ebony fretboard provides a fast, smooth playing surface that is accented by mother-of-pear block inlays and equipped with reissue medium jumbo frets. The headstock is adorned with a mother-of-pear Gibson logo and the Custom split diamond inlay. underscoring its elevated pedigree, and fitted with Grover Rotomatic tuners and a Corian nut.

Electronics include a 490R humbucker in the neck position and a 498T humbucker at the bridge, a pairing chosen for versatility, balance, and power. The 490R delivers warmth and richness, while the 498T adds more aggression, mids, and crisp articulation. Together, they offer a wide palette suitable for clean, edge-of-breakup, or full-throttle hard rock and metal tones. Control comes by way of two volume and two tone knobs, partnered with a three-way pickup selector toggle switch for effortless command of the guitar's tones.

Gold hardware underscores the instrument's Custom level appointments, including an ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, matching gold pickup covers, and a Stop Bar tailpiece. Black plastics and black Top Hat knobs with gold inserts complete the aesthetic.

Each Gibson Custom SG Custom with Koa Top, Gloss, Walnut includes a Modern hardshell case and a Certificate of Authenticity, affirming its place in the Limited Edition Collection. This guitar is built for players who value tradition, craftsmanship, and individuality, all brought together in a distinctive interpretation of a timeless classic.
